Travel Flashback: Crown Heights, New York In Film

Tucked away in the heart of Brooklyn, Crown Heights is a neighbourhood I love in NYC.

Predominantly populated by Hasidic Jews, on any late Friday afternoon you will find this quiet neighbourhood coming to life.

As families prepare for Shabbat (the jewish holy day that begins with the first star that comes out Friday night and ends with the first star on Saturday) you will see husbands buying fresh flowers and wine, women shopping for groceries, and kids running everywhere.

I wanted to capture the essence of the place. Shot in 35mm film.
