Photoshoot Spotlight: Solana the Label

Behind the scenes details of a professional photography photoshoot. A film shoot with Solana the Label. Samanta Katz Photography Business Blog: Learn how to market, sell, find clients, and start or grow your photography business.

Client: Solana the Label

Industry: Bali based swimwear brand

Shoot purpose: We just wanted to create some images for social media with the newly released colors and models.

Concept: This entire shoot was done on 35mm film. Natasha (owner of the brand) is inspired by old school 90s trends and really wanted to play with vibrant colors and vintage film. The models are not models but our friends on a weekend away. We wanted a relaxed, girl-next-door feel. Something that came across casual and fun.

How I got the gig: Natasha, owner of the brand, is a close friend of mind and we really wanted to work together, so we took the opportunity on one of our weekend getaways with our friends, as she brought her new collection for us to play.

Details: The entire shot was done on film. I worked with a 35mm lomo LC-A and a Pentax medium format (120 film). We only shot one roll on each camera but most images came out great. Film rolls were expired so I adjusted color balance in post production.
